SAN ANTONIO — June 15, 2026 — Great Western Productions has released KEC Lisp, the programming language developed for the KN-86 Deckline, as open-source software. The repository is live on GitHub under the Kinoshita Electronics Consortium organization.
KEC Lisp is a small Lisp dialect built on top of Fe, rxi’s tree-walking Lisp interpreter, extended with a core, a standard library, and a kec command-line tool. The release includes a REPL, script execution via kec run, and single-expression evaluation via kec eval. The language builds with CMake and runs on standard developer hardware with no KN-86 hardware required.
Game cartridges for the KN-86 Deckline are authored in KEC Lisp. The device’s runtime embeds the interpreter and adds hardware-layer primitives — graphics, sound, and input — on top of the core language. Those device-layer bindings are not part of the open-source repository; the repo ships the language itself. The standard library will expand as cartridge development requires.
